Who Owns the ePortfolio

Updated: Feb 19, 2023

“To own one’s domain gives students an understanding of how Web technologies work. It puts them in a much better position to control their work, their data, their identity online.”

Andrew Rikard ( 2015).

In my opinion, if the ePorfolio is created based on COVA philosophy, the learner is the owner. When a digital portfolio is filled with predetermined assignments given by a teacher, it loses its purpose and is only a showcase to be graded. The students must take ownership of their learning and see the ePortfolios as their personal space where they can create, connect and share their ideas to make meaningful connections.
