"You can't connect the dots looking forward;
you can only connect them looking backwards."
-Steve Jobs
Throughout our lives, we have learned to collect dots instead of connecting them. Since the children start kindergarten, we begin to reward them when they obtain an A on their test, and soon their behavior is focused on grades instead of actual learning. How long will they retain that information that was memorized just to pass the exam? It is necessary to motivate students to take ownership of their knowledge and help them to change their fixed mindset into a growth mindset. As teachers, we must coach students to become more curious and inquiring. By asking questions, we help them create the habit of reflection and consequently make connections.
